Fringe Finance Monthly Update: V3 Alpha Test & V1 Sunset
As we move into April, the Fringe Finance team continues progressing steadily toward the V3 launch. In this update, we share two major developments: the V3 alpha test and formally sunsetting our original V1 protocol. These steps mark a significant shift in focus toward a more robust, scalable, and forward-thinking Fringe ecosystem.
🚀 V3 Alpha testing will be live on Polygon
The wait is almost over: V3 alpha test on Polygon!
Originally planned for other environments, we pivoted to Polygon for this early-stage test due to its reliability and performance. This alpha phase is a key step in validating core mechanics of V3, from collateral and lending flows to risk model behavior — all in a live, albeit controlled, environment.
As we mentioned previously, this is what to expect:
- Deposit Lending Assets: Users start by depositing small lending assets.
- Deposit Collateral: They then add collateral to support borrowing or margin trading activities.
- Engage in Trading: Users can perform borrowing or margin trading actions, experiencing firsthand how the new v3 mechanics operate.
- Withdrawal: Finally, users can withdraw their assets.
These tests are meant to happen in short timeframes to ensure the same user can perform all steps without issues. Your feedback during this phase will be invaluable in helping us fine-tune the protocol before a full-scale launch. We will share a detailed tutorial to help you join us in this initiative. 🌅 Saying Goodbye to V1: Sunsetting the Legacy Protocol
Fringe V1 was our first leap into DeFi lending — and it laid the groundwork for everything that followed. But now, we are starting to sunset V1.
Why this matters:
- Focuses resources on innovation, not maintenance
- Streamlines user experience
- Reduces technical debt as we evolve the protocol
We will provide detailed information on all steps when we start the process. But in short, the V1 interface will be taken offline, it will be removed from DeFi aggregators, and support for its smart contracts will end.
By now, what should you do if you still have capital in V1:
Please withdraw your funds by visiting https://appv1.fringe.fi.
Don’t worry — even after the interface is retired, you’ll still be able to reclaim funds through a secure signature process we will also announce.
Technical enhancements on v2.5
While working on our v3, we are still working on incremental changes on v2.5, and this month, we concentrated on enhancements in our interest rate script. The deployment of this new version will happen soon!
